The companies of the energy group Utilitas in Estonia and Latvia produced 425 GWh of energy in the second quarter of 2024, which is 21% more than in the same period last year. Of the total production, 84% was green energy.

Of the energy produced, 298 GWh was heat and 127 GWh was electricity. Energy production was mainly increased by additional electricity production capacities, such as the Saarde and Aseri wind farms.

In June, new renewable energy production equipment, i.e. second-stage flue gas condensers, heat pumps, an electric boiler and a solar park, were completed at the Utilitas’ Väo energy complex located in Tallinn. The expansion of the complex continues with the construction of a heat storage facility and green hydrogen production unit.

“The heat storage system, electric boilers and the green hydrogen production unit will help us balance our energy system and that of the entire region. Synchronisation with Continental Europe Synchronous Area will take place already in half a year, and all market participants should contribute to this according to their possibilities,” said Priit Koit, CEO of the Utilitas Group.

The development of wind farms will also continue in the group’s companies, and in Lithuania, the Utilitas team will continue the construction of the Telšiai wind farm with 20 wind turbines – a large part of the roads has been completed and the construction of the foundations has begun.
