This year, Utilitas energy group celebrates ten years as the main sponsor of the Estonian men’s national basketball team. The sponsorship was extended until 2025 during the pre-qualification tournament in Tallinn for the Paris Olympics.
Utilitas has supported Estonian basketball for over 20 years while being the main sponsor of the men’s national team for the last 10 years. In addition, the company cooperates with basketball clubs in several cities where Utilitas also supplies residential heat. “During these ten years, the national basketball team has reached the finals of the European Championship twice – in 2015 in Riga and in 2022 in Milan. We believe that the young and eager-to-win team can offer us a number of beautiful games both at home and abroad in the coming years. We hope that there will be a chance to support our team also in the 2025 finals,” said the CEO of Utilitas Group, Priit Koit.
According to Priit Sarapuu, President of the Estonian Basketball Association, Utilitas’ contribution to Estonian basketball is invaluable. “In addition to supporting the national team for a decade, Utilitas has also helped bring the highest-level basketball tournament ever held in Estonia. The pre-qualification tournament for the Olympic Games offers local audiences a high-level basketball experience and further enhances Estonia’s reputation as a true basketball country on the international level. Such results cannot be achieved without a long-term and reliable cooperation partner, and we are very happy that Utilitas continues to partner with us,” said Sarapuu.
Utilitas supplies green energy for the pre-qualification basketball tournament for the Paris Olympic Games, taking place from August 12 to 15 in Tondiraba Ice Hall; the tournament’s electricity consumption will be made up of the renewable electricity produced in the Utilitas Saarde wind farm. Additionally, the hot water and heating will come from Utilitas’s environmentally friendly-district heating. Environmentally friendly tap water comes from drinking taps installed by Tallinna Vesi.
