Project benefits
The establishment and operation of the wind farm will significantly contribute to increase the regional renewable electricity production with contribution of further EU internal electricity market integration along with contribution to Europe’s GHG emission reduction and reinforcing energy security thorough a reduction of fossil fuels consumption substituted by renewable energy.
Timeline
The wind farm is in the development stage. Project is expected to reach fully commissioned status by the end of 2026, while the section in Estonia – by the end of 2027.
Investments
Total investment is planned to be 296 million euros.
Co-financing
Lode-Penuja wind farm project has received a €26.6 million CEF grant. The support will be used to perform some construction works during the first stage of its development, including wind turbine foundations, grid and road construction.
The cross-border renewable energy window under CEF Energy promotes cross-border cooperation between Member States in the field of planning, development and the cost-effective exploitation of renewable energy sources, as well as facilitate their integration through energy storage facilities and with the aim of contributing to the Union’s long term decarbonisation strategy, completing the internal energy market and enhancing the security of supply.
